The Story So Far

Adventures with a beating heart

J.P. Locke is a children's author, illustrator and serving primary-school teacher who lives in Newport, South Wales, but grew up in Bristol. He writes adventures that thrill young readers while carrying a lesson worth keeping — each one sparked by somewhere real.

Somewhere real: a cave on a Greek island. A rainy caravan holiday. A boat trip past a nesting turtle.

His debut illustrated novel, The Fury of the Tides, opens a mythic undersea series for readers aged 8–12 — alongside a shelf of picture books for younger adventurers. When he isn't teaching or writing, he's most often found beside the sea, or scribbling the next journey into being.
